Antoinette Gan, Cello

Oregon Symphony cellist Antoinette Gan is a passionate performer of solo, chamber, and orchestral music; she has participated in concerts and music festivals throughout the United States, Western Europe, and Scandinavia. During her time as a student, Antoinette spent summers at music programs including the Meadowmount School, Music Academy of the West, the Heifetz Institute, the Kneisel Hall Chamber Music Festival, and Tanglewood Music Center. She also participated in international programs, including the London Master Classes, the Cello Forum of Spain, the Festival Pablo Casals, IMS Prussia Cove, and Aurora Master Classes. Antoinette’s solo engagements have included guest performances with the Lewisville Lake Symphony, the Meadows Symphony, the Symphony of the Potomac, and the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra.

As a soloist and chamber musician, Antoinette has played in master classes for internationally renowned pedagogues Lluís Claret, Torleif Thedéen, Laurence Lesser, Frans Helmerson, Ralph Kirshbaum, Joel Krosnick, Leon Fleisher, Seymour Lipkin, and members of the Cavani, Brentano, Concord, and Jupiter Quartets, among others. In middle and high school, Antoinette studied cello with Michael Coren, a cellist in the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. She received her B.M. from the Peabody Conservatory as a student of Amit Peled and Alison Wells, and her M.M. from the Rice University Shepherd School of Music, where she studied with Desmond Hoebig. Antoinette joined the Oregon Symphony in September 2015.
