Lynne Finch, Violin

Lynne joined the Oregon Symphony as violinist in 1981. As a native of Portland, she was a student of Raphael Spiro and concertmaster of the Portland Junior Symphony. She earned her Bachelor of Music degree from Lewis and Clark College and her Master of Music in Violin Performance from the University of Oregon on a Ruth Close Scholarship, as a student of Franciska Koscielny. Her studies have included a year in England, performances with the Colorado Philharmonic and study at the Banff Center for the Performing Arts under Sidney Harth.

Together with her husband Ken Finch, she introduced a program of string chamber music and orchestral repertory to the curriculum of the U. of O. summer session. Lynne has been a performer in many festivals and chamber groups including the Oregon Bach Festival, the Ernest Bloch Festival, West Coast Chamber Orchestra, Young Audiences of Oregon, Virtuosi Della Rosa and Portland Chamber Artists. Lynne’s passions include her family, chamber music and snow skiing.
