Julie Coleman, Violin

Born in Oregon, Ms. Coleman returned to the Northwest after attending The Juilliard School. While a member of the Oregon Symphony, her experience as a violinist in the Portland area has ranged from teaching applied music at portland State University and Lewis and Clark College to playing with groups such as Fear No Music and Pink Martini.

Ms. Coleman has toured internationally with the American Sinfonietta and also with the San Diego-based Mainly Mozart Orchestra. During the summer she plays with the Grand Teton Music Festival in Wyoming, where she has also appeared with colleagues on a chamber music series at Walk Festival Hall. Previous festivals include the Bellingham Festival in Washington State, Cascade Music Festival, and the Aspen Music Festival and School.

As soloist, Ms. Coleman has appeared with the Oregon Symphony, Chico Symphony (CA), Aspen Young Artist Orchestra, and Portland Youth Philharmonic, among others. An alumna of the Portland Youth Philharmonic, Julie was invited to sit concertmistress of the PYP Alumni Orchestra. Other engagements as concertmistress have included the Columbia and Yaquina Symphony Orchestras.
